Introduction
The Man Mo Temple was one of the earliest Chinese temples built during the colonial period of Hong Kong. It is quietly located in the downtown area of Sheung Wan, in sharp contrast with the busy commercial district. Inside the temple, light smoke curls, and large, long-burning pagoda incense is hung everywhere, representing good faith in praying for health, wealth and happiness.
The Man Mo Temple enshrines "Emperor Wen" and "Emperor Wu": Emperor Wen (Emperor Wenchang) holds a writing brush and is responsible for literature and official duties; Emperor Wu (Emperor Guan Sheng) wears a green robe and holds a long sword, representing loyalty and martial arts. In addition to the two emperors of Man Mo, Man Mo Temple also enshrines Bao Gong and Chenghuang, and there are two cultural relics with a history of more than 100 years in the temple, including: a bronze bell from the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty (1847), and a bronze bell built in 1862.&nbs
