Introduction
The Hong Kong Museum of Medicine is a British Edwardian building made of red bricks. The museum is a legal monument in Hong Kong and carries the history of Hong Kong's medical development. It is also one of the first museums in the world to compare Chinese and Western pathology. The Hong Kong Museum of Medicine, opened in early 1996, has 11 distinctive exhibition halls. The premises of the museum were formerly the "Bacteriology Laboratory" and the "Hong Kong Academy of Pathology", which were later repurposed for current purposes. This building is a masterpiece of a Hong Kong architect in the early 20th century. The ceiling of the main entrance lobby is decorated with plaster lace, which looks elegant and solemn, and there are several rare fireplaces.
FG Tips
It is best for wheelchair users to take a taxi or rehabilitation bus. The stone-level staff at the entrance of the museum can arrange a temporary ramp to enter, but they can only visit the underground floors.
