Introduction
The Westport City Building was originally the site of the Shipping Administration, but was later transformed into the Sheung Wan Market (i.e. vegetable market). It has been a market frequently visited by nearby residents for more than 100 years. After being built in 1991, Western Market has become what it is today. It is a center of traditional industries and handicrafts, as well as a shopping mall. Western Market adopts the Edwardian classical architectural style. The exterior walls are made of red bricks, and the main entrance of the vault is made of granite. The colonial color is strong, and it is unique among the surrounding high-rise buildings. It is rated as a historical building. Statutory monument. In this quaint mall, there are a variety of shops selling special crafts and nostalgic collections, as well as cloth shops from the old streets and lanes of Central, allowing you to feel the feelings of old Hong Kong.
FG Tips
The Western Market is close to the MTR station, and there are many shops selling specialty products, but the access is relatively narrow, so wheelchair users must be especially careful.
